Brown Dust 2 Characters
A roster is a list of kits. Start with the name, then pick the costume that actually fights.
Brown Dust 2’s roster looks like a gacha phone book and plays like a skill list. Lathel, Justia, Blade, Liberta, Teresse, Diana, Kry, Nebris, Morpeah — those are bodies. The fight is the costume you put on them. This hub is the map of names. Job details sit on supports and attackers. Ranks sit on the tier list. The mechanic sits on costumes.
You unlock a character when you obtain their first costume, including free story and event rewards. You do not need a separate “character banner.” The pub / tavern / recruit shops sometimes sell older 5-stars for tickets; check them before you pity a standard unit.
How to read a name
When a banner says Dark Saintess Liberta, the important word is Dark Saintess (the kit) and the second word is Liberta (the body that already might live in your box). If you own another Liberta costume, you are adding a skill, not a new person. If you do not own her, this pull creates her.
Same for Apostle Blade versus Young Lady Blade versus Onsen Swordfighter Blade. One woman, several kits, different plus tracks. The PvE list ranks kits. This hub groups the people so you stop pulling “a second Blade” by accident when you already needed a buffer.
Starter faces you will meet in packs
- Justia — protagonist-adjacent sword. Fixed-damage costumes delete story. Still the Infinite recommendation in many 2026 newbie videos.
- Lathel — fire-side lead. Homunculus Lathel is a buffer people 12-Pick on purpose.
- Helena — magic buff teacher.
- Kry — 4-star who refuses to leave the meta conversation.
- Wiggle — 3-star AoE and self-destruct panic.
- Scheherazade — magic attacker from Infinite pools.
- Eleaneer — physical shooter from Infinite pools.
- Rou, Gray, Rubia, Rafina, Celia, Refithea, Glacia, Yuri, Sylvia, Teresse, Diana, Loen, Nebris, Eclipse, Venaka, Liatris, Levia, Samay, Michaela, Wilhelmina — the mid-roster you meet through packs, events, and banners.
Collab faces come and go. September 2026’s Chained Soldier 2 wave (Kyouka, Tenka, Ren as the EN-facing names; Japanese: 羽前京香, 出雲天花, 山城戀) follows the same costume rule. See events.
Who to raise if you hate lists
- The story AoE unit you already have (often Justia or Kry).
- Two supports with different buff jobs — supports.
- One carry whose element matches the next fiend — attackers.
- Ignore the rest until the daily checklist says you have powder left.
Do not raise every 5-star to the same level. Story stamina is the cap. The getting started page is blunt about this for a reason.
Voice, element, life skills
Japanese and Korean voice tracks exist; English is text. Life skills (cook, craft, and so on) matter for the town / exploration layer and do not replace combat ranks. Element still matters: a fire carry into a fire-resist fiend is a self-own. Check the stage property before you copy a screenshot team.

When a new name drops on a livestream, add it to the job page first, not to a panic 10-pull. The body will still be there after you read the skill pattern.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Brown Dust 2 questions.
Are characters and costumes the same thing?
No. A character is the body. A costume is a skill. The first costume unlocks the body.
Who is the best beginner character?
Justia and Kry are the honest answers for story. Supports decide endgame. See supports.
Do I need every character?
No. You need jobs: knockback, two buff buckets, one carry.
Where are collab characters listed?
On events while they are live, then here after they join the roster.
