Brown Dust 2 Costume Guide

You pull skills, not faces — plus ranks, swaps, pity, and which banner a new Master should touch.

Costume System

If you remember one sentence from this wiki, make it this: Brown Dust 2 gacha pulls costumes, and costumes are skills. The first costume of a name unlocks that character automatically. Every extra costume is another skill with its own SP cost, cooldown, range, and sometimes a different role. In battle you swap outfits to fire the skill you need. That is why a “complete” Justia and a “Justia with one costume” are different units, and why the character hub talks in costumes as often as names.

Read this before you dump Dia. Pair it with reroll and team building.

What a costume actually is

A costume bundle includes:

  • a unique active skill (the pattern you place on the 3x4 grid),
  • often a stat package and a combat role (attacker, buffer, healer, chainer),
  • a plus rank track from +0 to +5 as you pull duplicates,
  • sometimes an exclusive weapon recipe.

Skins and Prestige cosmetics can exist on top. Some “special skins” are visual; some seasonal costumes are full skills. If the banner says costume, assume it is a skill until the tooltip proves otherwise. The game’s identity is that outfits change kits — a beach costume is not a hat, it is a different kit.

Mid-fight, open the costume swap on a character and pick another owned outfit. You do not pre-slot a single skill for the whole battle. Cooldowns are per costume, which is why two skills on one body feel like two units in SP clothing.

Plus ranks

Duplicates are not optional endgame spice. Supports in particular want plus ranks because their buff numbers and durations jump at breakpoints. A +0 buffer still works — that is why F2P accounts function — but a +4 Teresse-style damage buff is why community clears look like a different game. Attackers also scale, yet a plus-ranked buffer multiplies whoever you put in the carry slot next month.

If a banner is limited, decide before pull one whether you will plus it. A single copy of a limited DPS with no mats and no buff stack is how Dia disappears. The attacker list and PvE tier list help you choose; they do not spend for you.

Banners a new Master should recognize

  • Infinite Draw — beginner guaranteed 5-star from a pool. See reroll.
  • 12-Pick selective — you choose a list; odds rise on those costumes; uses selective tickets. Best beginner Dia/ticket sink. Load it with supports from players/supports.
  • 1-Pick selective — one target, recurring. Better later when you know the exact costume you are finishing.
  • Limited / rate-up — new costume, often a seasonal or collab skill. Pity sits at 200 pulls on the rate-up (40,000 Dia if you buy the worst-case). Daily login often grants a free pull on event banners; use it, do not treat it as a reason to 10-pull.
  • Standard / pickup — older costumes entering a selectable pool. Limited units often land here later; wait if you can.

Collab costumes (the Chained Soldier 2 set that arrived 10 September 2026 is the current example) are usually time-boxed. Read events before you skip a collab you actually wanted; they do not always rerun on your schedule.

Pity, 50/50, and income

Rate-up is not a guaranteed first featured at 90 like some other titles. Plan around 200 pity if you must have the costume. Featured versus off-banner split is roughly a coin flip at the 5-star rarity depending on the banner text — always read the in-game rates screen. The game is generous with tickets compared with many gacha peers, which is why we tell you to play instead of rerolling for a week. It is not so generous that you should 10-pull every collab.

What not to do

  • Do not sell or consume a 5-star costume for dust because you “main someone else.” You may need that skill’s shape later.
  • Do not plus three attackers before one buffer.
  • Do not confuse a Prestige skin trailer with a skill banner.
  • Do not pull a costume whose element you cannot gear. Check combat for property resist.

After this: team building, supports, tier list. New accounts still start at getting started. Spend leftover tickets only after codes are claimed so you are not pulling on an empty wallet the same afternoon a coupon lands.
